In October 7, 1919, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, legally known as Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij, was founded to serve the Netherlands and it’s countries. KLM is the oldest airline still operating under its original name.
Pieter Elbers is the current President and CEO of KLM. He joined the team in 1992 as the Chief Operating Officer and deputy CEO of KLM. He is a member of the statutory Board of Managing Directors since 1992. He previously held the following positions at KLM; SVP Network and Alliances, General Manager KLM Japan & Korea and General Manager KLM Mediterranean. Elbers is also a member of the Advisory Board of the National Aerospace Laboratory of the Netherlands (NLR), International Advisory Board of International Institute of Air & Space Law (IIASL), College Dutch Aerospace Luchten Ruimtevaart Nederland (LRN).
Its headquarters is located in Amstelveen, Netherlands and the nearby Amsterdam Airport Schiphol serves as its hubs. KLM has a fleet size of 118 aircrafts serving 145 destinations.
